Welcome to Lantrip

Lantrip's Custom Homes, Inc. is owned and operated by Gene and Cindy Lantrip. Gene and Cindy have been building custom homes in the Big Country since 1983. Their roots run deep in the Abilene area. Gene graduated from Cooper High School in 1974 and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1979. He was a commissioned officer in the 490th Civil Affairs for eight years, and he and Cindy owned the Lantrip's convenience store chain from 1982 to 2005. Gene served on the Jim Ned School Board for 9 years, the Taylor Country Lions Club, as staff at Philmont Boy Scout Camp and is currently a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Cindy grew up in Buffalo Gap, and graduated from Jim Ned High School in 1976. She then attended McMurry University and married Gene in 1977. Gene and Cindy love spending time with their three children, their children's spouses, and their grandchild.

Gene and Cindy have built over 475 new custom homes in Abilene and surrounding areas. Their philosophy is to build the best quality home, yet affordable for the home buyers. They are members of the Big Country Home Builders Association, Texas Association of Home Builders where he servers on the board of directors, The National Association of Home Builders, and the Abilene Better Business Bureau. Gene currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Big Country Home Builder Association where he was First Vice President for 2010 and the BCHBA President for 2011. Gene also serves as the Local Director of the National Association of Home Builders 2009-2011 and currently serves on the state board. Gene and Cindy Lantrip were named Builder of the Year for the Big Country Home Builder Association for 2009 and Builder of the Year for the 2010 and 2012 Big Country People's Choice Awards and runner-up in 2011.

With Gene's involvement in the building industry, he also believes in the importance of bettering the community. Through the Big Country Home Builder Association Gene is active on the committees serving big country students with scholarships, their annual golf tournament fundraiser, the committee responsible for the BCHBA's annual clay shoot benefiting Habitat for Humanity, and the membership drive committee to involve more local businesses and trades to better the BCHBA. He believes in bringing in new people with fresh ideals and getting anyone who is willing to be involved an opportunity to do so. Gene also currently serves on the board for Habitat for Humanity Abilene. He feels Habitat is directly connected with everything the BCHBA stands for and hopes to better a community that's given so much to him and Cindy personally.
A word from Gene:

As a new custom home builder we currently have lots available in the Mockingbird Hills, Pack Saddle Creek, Sawgrass, Wylie Legacies, Southlake, Indian Wells and Dakota Springs subdivisions. We will build on any lot our home owner desires in the Big Country, on your lot or ours, and we will build any size. From securing financing, developing the plans, helping to make all selections as stress free as possible, and finally handing our homeowners the keys to their new custom home, Lantrip's Custom Homes assists our homeowners throughout the whole construction process. We also abide by the TRCC's inspections even though the law no longer requires this. Lantrip's Custom Homes provides an extra peace of mind to those who purchase one of our homes. As a home builder to serve your needs, there are several different financing options available and we work with all mortgage companies and real estate companies. We look forward to making your dream of building a new custom home, a reality!
